Introducing the Cloudize Webhooks Platform Service

Introduction

We are absolutely delighted to share that the Cloudize Webhooks Platform Service is now GA. This service significantly reorients customers' solution requirements back to our core competency, which is building world-class APIs.

As we've constructed both internal and customer systems over time, the requirement for an eventing solution has more often than not been a system requirement. In fact, we have constructed derivatives of a webhook service in about half of the solutions we designed and built during 2023.

Opportunity

Building a world-class and reliable Webhooks Service is difficult. But, the incredibly frustrating thing about this very necessary work was that it did not significantly leverage our core technological advantages, the things we're better than anyone else at, which is constructing world-class APIs. As a result, in each case, we found ourselves drawn away from areas where we could deliver disproportionate value to our clients and into doing standard delivery work, which does not support our primary purpose. We exist to act as a force multiplier for customers who want to build cloud innovations that disrupt their respective markets.

That said, there is always a silver lining, and the incredibly beneficial thing about designing and building any capability multiple times is that you start to gain a deep understanding of its requirements and the value it delivers.

We spoke with several clients and advisory stakeholders, and in every case, they said that they would rather have consumed a platform-level webhooks capability (had it existed) than being required to create it.

So, earlier this year, we started working on a generic platform-level Webhooks Service that would deliver all the needs of previous implementations in a better, more efficient, more reliable, and more intelligent service than anything we had previously built.

Once the service was online and thoroughly tested (including minute-by-minute end-to-end monitoring of its core capabilities), we started updating our internal services to consume it.

Subsequently, and in consultation with clients, we started migrating all our clients who required a webhook capability onto the service. In every case, the new service offered better capabilities, more flexibility, and reduced costs.

Impact

The impact of the Cloudize Webhooks Platform Service cannot be overstated. The benefits to both ourselves and our clients are truly remarkable.

Clients are now able to construct complex asynchronous integrations without having to develop, test and maintain all of that complexity. Delivered as a cloud service (or on-prem for enterprise clients), clients have fewer services to manage and maintain, and costs and complexity are both reduced significantly. In every case, bar none, our customers require a webhooks capability to deliver core business functionality, as opposed to the webhooks capability being the core business capability, which makes it a perfect SaaS candidate.

The service allows events to be scheduled for immediate processing, or they can be scheduled far into the future if required. As a result, solutions are driven back to our core capabilities, which deliver force multiplier effects to our clients and enable them to innovate faster and better than their competitors.

We'd love to know what you think of this innovation. Let us know.
